A Mother’s Touch could cancel every hurt, pain, or disappointment. A skinned knee would suddenly feel better with a mother’s kiss. This company was founded based on one mother who touched a nation of people. LBR, INC was founded on the generosity and selflessness of the late Lessie Belle Rhames.
Lessie wore many hats in her lifetime. To family, neighbors, friends, and those in the community, she played various roles. She was a mentor, wife, baby-sitter, cook, cabdriver, nurse, doctor, sister, aunt, counselor and attorney, confidant, financial source, coach, worker in the church, homeroom mother, and substitute teacher. The irony of fulfilling all of these roles was Lessie did not receive payment and did not complain.
Lessie was a mentor for everyone in the community and her home was a place of solace to children and youth who lived in adverse conditions. Lessie valued education and had a special place in her heart for those financially incapable of attending college and adults who sacrificed their education to send their children to school. She adopted several children across the world, sending money monthly for daily living and educational fees.
